It is strongly recommended that assessment results are hidden from students - particularly in a case where you may have a mixture of automated and manual grading at play (for example, MCQ versus SAQ).

To restrict student results, complete the following steps:

  1. Create a quiz and add questions for the assessment. See Creating a New Quizzes Quiz in Canvas (formerly Quizzes.Next) and Creating and Adding Questions to a New Quizzes Quiz in Canvas for more information.
  2. In the quiz builder for that quiz, click the Settings tab.
  3. Toggle the the Restrict student result view option to the on position. When this option is enabled, instructors can manage what is displayed to students in their assessment results page. This includes answer choices, feedback, and scores.

Note: Students can still see their assessment grades in the Gradebook when the Restrict student result view option is enabled. To completely hide grades from students, you will need to enable a Manual posting policy in the Gradebook.
