If your class or online session will be taking place at the same day and time each week, you can schedule your Zoom session to be a recurring one, as opposed to setting up a new Zoom session at the end of each week.

Note: When scheduling a recurring meeting, you cannot edit individual meetings in this group of sessions. If you need to change one meeting’s settings you may need to delete this one instance and create a new individual meeting.

To create a recurring meeting in Zoom, complete the following steps.

  1. Create a meeting in Zoom in Canvas. For more information, see Scheduling your classes in Zoom.
  2. In the scheduler, select the Recurring meeting checkbox.
  3. Configure the following details for the recurring meeting:
    1. Recurrence: Whether this class will repeat daily, weekly, monthly or indefinitely (the NoFixed Time option). It is recommended to set this to weekly for regular timetabled classes.
    2. Repeat every: Whether the class repeats weekly, fortnightly, etc. It is recommended to set this to repeating every 1 week (assuming you are lecturing once a week).
    3. Occurs on: The day each week that this class will occur.
    4. End date: How many times this Zoom session should occur before ending. This can be set to:
      1. A date (e.g. by 11th December)
      2. Or after a specific number of occurrences (e.g. After 13 occurrences). It is recommended to set this after 13 occurrences (one semester).
  4. Configure the rest of the meeting details and then click Save.

Note: In a scenario where you may be providing a live lecture for a module more than once a week at different times (e.g. From 10:00-12:00 on Monday and 14:00-16:00 on Wednesday), you should set up two Zoom sessions (one for each day).
